Polka Dot Traveling Patch Worldwide Fabric Exchange

In celebration of National Quilting Day, one of my favorite quilt shops, Prairie Stitches Quilt Shoppe, owners Susan and Kim are doing an awesome traveling patch exchange.  Here is how it works: 

We thought it would be fun to exchange fabric worldwide, so…
 
Polka Dot 10” squares it is

How it works:

• Reserve your spot in the exchange by emailing us at
customerservice@prairiestitchesquiltshop.com, or call
us at 630-554-9701. We will need your name, email
and physical address. The cutoff date for registration is
3/15/14
 
• Purchase 5 yards of “quilt store quality” Polka dot fabric
 
• Cut fabric into 10” squares (you will have enough fabric to exchange with 60 quilters)
 
• Maybe add a little note (sticker) to each square if you would like to introduce yourself, some
suggestions for your note could be:
 
• Where you are from
 
• How long have you been quilting
 
• Why you have chosen this polka dot fabric
 
• Maybe just a simple “Hello” or “I Love Quilting”
 
• Put your squares in the individual envelopes (envelopes must be 4” by 9.5”) along
with your note; make sure your return address is on each envelope. Enclose
with a check (US only) or call shop with credit card number (US &
International) for $66.00(return postage & handling) and send them to us at:

• We must receive your box by 3/30/14

Then in April, 2014 wait for 60 individual traveling patches from quilters around the
world to show up in your mailbox.
 

I am planning on joining the exchange and will be designing a quilt to go with the 10" squares.

Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks Blog Tour

Happy Friday!  Today is my day to join in the Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks Blog Tour .  Yes, that means that I have a block included in the magazine!  The tour has been going on all week so make sure that you check out the other designers that are involved in the tour.   Here is the cover of the magazine: It's so great that they have printed 7 - 100 Block Magazines!  I am also so proud to say that I have been in all 7 issues!  My block is called Tiara...do you sense a theme these days?  I have a book coming up next week (squee!) called Diamond Traditions and I called this block Tiara...do you think I'm a princess?!  My husband sure thinks so!  Anyway, here is my block: I used the purple colorway of my fabric with Maywood Studio, Royal Gardens .  I love the way this block has a center that you can fussy-cut or use an interested print inside.  It was fun to make and there are so many possibilities to make a quilt with it.  Here are some ideas: Simple on point with s

Quiltmaker 100 Block Blog Tour

Hi Everyone! Glad you could drop by for the blog tour.  It is day 2, make sure that you check out all the featured bloggers on the tour.  You can see who is blogging today and all week on Quiltmaker's Blog . My block is called Celtic Cross #775.  Here it is: When the editors of Quiltmaker's first decided  to do this, they had given out forms and information on how to submit a block.  So, I decided to go ahead and try it.  I am so glad that I did!  I have been in every volume and I can't believe that we are on Volume 8!  They have a great thing going.  I thought that I would give you some setting options for my block.  Here are a few: Set straight with no sashing For the second quilt, I added sashing and cornerstones in the quilt and they are shown above.  Now for the giveaways!  Quiltmaker will be giving an issue of Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks Volume 8 to one lucky winner.  I will also be giving a signed copy of Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks Volume 8! Welcome everyone!  It's my day for the blog tour .  I hope you have been tuning in daily to the other blog hop participants.  I have checked them out and am very impressed with all the wonderful, talented designers out there!  Here is my block that was included in the latest issue.  Applique, you say?!  Yes, I have been designing a bit of applique these days.  I love to applique but unfortunately, there is not enough time to do it all.  I was inpired by a tile design for this applique and hope you enjoy it too!
