Quilts and More

Have you got your latest issue of Better Homes and Gardens, Quilts and More?  If you do, you will see that I have a bag included in the magazine.  Yes, I said bag!!  Last Quilt Market, one of the editors and I were discussing different bags and I thought that using the border print from my latest fabric line, Royal Gardens, would make a great bag.  She agreed and I came up with this bag called, Day to Night:

It was fun to make and easy too!  Bundles and Bolts Quilt Co is offering kits which includes the fusible interfacing and fusible fleece but not the hardware.  Another cool thing is that my friend, Jan Ragaller is making the color options for Quilts and More and did the color option for my bag!  I was so excited to see that she had made it!  Here is her version on the cover of the magazine.  (Bottom right corner).

I hope you have been working on your block of the months blocks and by the looks of the flickr group, you have.  It is so exciting and fun to see everyone's version!  Keep up the good work.

Where has February gone?  It's already the 18th so I better start working on my samples for you for the 1st of March!  We will be using the Fit to be Quarter 6.5 & Companion and I will have lots of demos for you to see.

This past couple of weeks have been pretty busy.  I had a lecture in Lodi, WI at their quilt guild at the beginning of February, went on a girls retreat weekend and last Tuesday had a class and lecture in Huntley, IL.  Both guilds were wonderful and enjoyed getting to talk their members.

Of course, the retreat weekend with my friends was a blast.  We rent a cottage and convert it to a quilting retreat.  We move all the furniture in the main area and set up tables, chairs, ironing boards, cutting stations and talking areas.  We spend 4 days, sewing, eating, talking and especially laughing.  If you don't get a chance to do this with your friends, try to make a point to do this.  It is inspiring, invigorating and most of all FUN!!!

Here is a picture of the cottage that we rent:

It had snowed all day on Thursday and we were stuck inside...darn!  :)  We all had plenty of projects to keep us busy and of course, food.  This is our 8th year that we have done this and we try to make it twice a year.

Until next week, have a great week and keep piecing!
